Homemade Slime/Gak

Two, 4 oz. bottles of Elmer’s Glue
1 tsp. Borax (found in the laundry detergent section of the store)
Water
Food Coloring

Empty the glue into a bowl. Refill bottles with hot water and shake. Empty that into your bowl. Add your desired color choice. Stir until you have your desired color. Into a cup, add one cup of hot water and 1 teaspoon of borax. Stir until the borax is dissolved then add this to your colored glue mix slowly while stirring. Your "slime" will start right away. You may have some extra water, but pull the slime out of your bowl and keep working it until you're happy with the consistency.

Sure to be lots of fun for your little ones. :)

Mississippi Mud Pie

I found this recipe on The Cookie Jar for Mini Mississippi Mud Pies and we had to make them- especially since we have just finished studying Mississippi. Now before anyone says anything, I know they are not TRUE Mississippi Mud Pies but they were so easy to make and so YUMMY!!!



All you need is...

Chocolate Cupcakes (just decorate as many as you need- you can freeze the others;)

Can of Chocolate Icing

Mini Marshmallows

Chocolate Syrup

Ice the cupcakes... we used a decorating bag and tip to give it the swirl on top. Place marshmallows all over and drizzle in chocolate.

See what I mean... so easy (our 8 year old did them!!!) and oh so yummy!!!

Making an Octopus...

This really isn't a recipe but I thought that it was a cute idea and one that my girls keep asking me to make:) All you do is cut the bottom half of a hot dog into fourths... leaving the top intact. Place the cut hot dog into hot water and boil... as it boils the legs will separate and 'curl' up making your octopus:)

***Be prepared to make more of these than you would normally if you were just preparing regular hot dogs... if your kids are anything like mine, they will gobble these things up:)

Kool-Aid Play Dough

I got this from another blog... Chaotic Peace- and I absolutely love it:) It doesn't leave that residue on your hands and it smells great (which my girls loved). We used Pink Lemonade Kool-Aid and got a pretty pale pink that had a faint smell of lemonade:) We will try another flavor next time we need to make some...

Kool-Aid Play Dough
1 1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1 packet of Kool-Aid mix (unsweetened)*
1 cup boiling water
1 1/2 Tablespoons vegetable oil (I used canola oil and it worked fine)

Mix dry ingredients in large bowl. Add oil to boiling water. Mix water and oil mixture into dry mixture with spoon. Knead with hands for about 5 minutes adding flour to make it workable- you may need up to another half cup or more... just kneed in flour until it is no longer sticky. Store in air tight container.

*The flavor of the kool-aid determines the color of your dough. Remember to only use the little flavor packet…not the big packs with the sugar added. Any type of kool-aid/flavored drink mix will work.
